Your names/a little about yourself ?
Hello ladies and gents! My name is Ferrin Roy @ferrin_roy. I'm happily married, and the mother of two energetic little girls. I
I'm god-fearing, really down to earth, I love to eat (from Louisiana) and I'm here to represent for the woman who struggles with loving herself. The woman who wont post a "selfie" with out makeup. The woman who compares herself to the next woman. The woman who has scars internally she is afraid to express because of judgment. I'm here to help you become free from people and their limited perceptions of you!!! Your focus should to be better than you were yesterday not better than the next woman.
What do you do?
I'm a Mental Health Counselor. I counsel individuals who struggle with mental disorders. I'm also an author. The Mark She Kept, " A Woman's Journey to Living her Purpose Courageously!
Why did you get into that?
I love helping people grow and overcome things that were meant to destroy them internally.
What's your story?
I was born with a large nevus birthmark on my right cheek. Something "society feels is a flaw, blemish, or skin disorder. Also, something "society " feel people should be ashamed of. My mother instilled confidence within me at the age of 3. I was taught that my birthmark was apart of me and its something I should not be ashamed of. My confidence was effected when my mother was not around to defend me. I actually didn't notice the reaction from others until I was of age to recognize stares. (Around 9yrs old)
What struggles have you over come and how?
The moment I became completely comfortable in my skin, stares no longer bothered me. I do not notice if anyone is staring because I realized the importance of valuing my opinion despite what someone else thinks. If I would have removed my birthmark, it would have been strictly to satisfy the opinion and stares of others! No one deserves to have control over me!
How has your role of a woman pushed you forward or held you back?
My confidence has gotten me everything I want in life. I fall short of nothing because my birthmark did not hinder me, it influenced me to help others.
How do you stay positive and focused?
I surround myself with positive people. I've also learned over the years the importance of not expecting too much out of others. Everyone won't support or respect you.
Any words of advice for future girl bosses following in your footsteps?
Protect your energy, put things into perspective, and PROSPER!
