What do you do?

I graduated from Arizona State University in 2016 and I'm currently a Buyer/Planner for a big company in Phoenix, Arizona. When I'm not working I absolutely love hiking and the outdoors. Over the past year and a half I've camped/hiked in Death Valley National Park, Horseshoe Bend, Lake Powell, Zion National Park and recently Humphrey's peak in Flagstaff, Arizona. Hiking is something I started doing to relax while in school and that has brought me a lot of joy over the past few years. The views at the top of any mountain and the feeling of accomplishing the end goal is what makes the trails so worth it no matter how hard it was getting to the top.

Why did you get into that?

I got into the outdoors as a way to just take a break from all the homework and stress when I first started going to university. It was a way for me to turn off my mind and go out and discover places I've never seen or been to. Its fun getting away from the busy life for a bit and taking time to enjoy the quiet atmosphere without any distractions.

Name 3 words to describe you best?

I'm a very kind, passionate and hardworking individual. When It comes to getting the job done, I get it done even if its difficult. I like to say that I'm not a quitter but a fighter.

which females influence you the most (could be anyone from your mom to queen elizabeth)

Sarah Herron (@sarahheron) is someone that I look up to. She's a badass woman that doesn't let anything get in her way and also loves to hike. She has taught me that no matter what life throws at us we push through and keep going.

What struggles have you over come and how?

As a kid with one arm growing up wasn't all that bad. I did my own things and minded my own business and really didn't seem to care what anyone thought of me in an innocent way. However, it wasn't until i was in middle school that I started to see how rude some of the kids were to me. And so to avoid rude comments, stares an dumb questions I decided to just hide my arm in every way possible. I know this is not the best solution but younger me didn't know better. I continued to heavily hide my arm in high school and only those close to me knew about it. It was hard and all of that added unnecessary stress in my life. I would always opt out of sports that required two hands such as softball or basketball because I thought It was "too hard" and "embarrassing". It wasn't until my junior year in college when I started to really think things through and went on a path of self love. I started meeting people that didn't care about me being different, but they cared about who I was on the inside and that really helped me over come some of my fears. Surrounding yourself with peers that push you to be a better you can do wonders. I'm still working on loving myself, but I'm definitely stronger and more confident now than i was a few years ago. I don't really care what others think or say. It's all about discovering who you are and loving yourself and all of your imperfections.

How do you stay positive and focused?

By surrounding myself with smart, driven and successful people has helped me stayed focused and grounded, not only in my career but in everyday life. Writing in a journal every night and exercising has helped me stay positive.

Any words of advice for future girl bosses following in your footsteps?

Life is about loving yourself and being happy. Don't waste your time paying attention to the haters but instead pay attention to what makes you Smile!

What is one quote you stand by

"by being yourself, you put something wonderful in the world that was not there before"
